
State Electricity Company of Honduras Aeneas and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (Cabei) has signed an agreement to advance plans for a floating solar panel at the country’s largest generating station, the 300 MW Francisco Morazán hydroelectric complex, also known as El Cajón (pictured).
Under the $550,000 non-reimbursable cooperation agreement, Enee will carry out technical, financial and economic feasibility studies, as well as the detailed design of the project and its environmental and social impact, Cabei said in a statement.

For its part, IDB approved previously announced technical cooperation USD 350,000 to help the government conduct an assessment to strengthen and improve the technical and financial sustainability of the sector, particularly that of Aenea.

El Salvador’s legislative assembly has given the green light to reforms to the law that creates a general directorate for energy, hydrocarbons and mines.
“The changes approved by the legislators will allow the completion of the process of dissolution and liquidation of the national energy council and the direction of hydrocarbons and mines of the ministry of economy”, reported the assembly.
The law, approved last Novemberaims to streamline policy-making and improve monitoring, among other things.

Costa Rica’s executive branch will present a National Electrical System (SEN) Harmonization Bill to the Legislative Assembly.
“This initiative aims to promote the modernization of the SEN through overall efficiency to continue to guarantee the satisfaction of the national electricity demand, to promote the maximum use of the national electricity system and to promote the development of new commercial schemes for the supply of the electricity utility,” the government said.
The bill would create market and system operating entities under the aegis of the ministry of environment and energy.
Meanwhile, the ministry announced a consultation for a draft LNG import regulation rule for self-consumption in the industrial sector in stationary combustion systems. The proposal will be available here.
