Flow computer with MC approval for gas flow measurement
Beverly, MA: KROHNE, a leading global manufacturer and supplier of industrial process instrumentation solutions, introduces its SUMMIT 8800, an MC-approved flow computer for gas flow measurement.
The KROHNE SUMMIT 8800 combines transactional, tax and allocation counts in a single throughput computer. Exceeding expectations, the SUMMIT 8800 achieves optimization at every level, improving communication options, access speed, computing and operation. The computer’s high-security features also protect end-user data, making the product adaptable and scalable to meet Measurement Canada’s most stringent requirements.
The SUMMIT 8800 has received Measurement Canada approval for tightness categories 2 and 3 for natural gas. The SUMMIT 8800 with Waterproof Category 2 includes waterproof configuration capability and metrology parameters. The SUMMIT 8800 Category 3 device is the only partially interlocked panel mounted flow computer. It allows adjustment of parameters, rapid changes and reduction of OPEX. These include changes in process parameters, CT parameters such as pulse factor, and changes in functionality.
This flow computer is mechanically sealable with a hardware lock. Specifically, it is equipped with a standalone event recorder (Type A) approved for separate security levels within a single device. Its cables are also sealed and cannot be disconnected.
It has also received approval for mass and volume based counters. For volumetric meters, the calculation is based on pressure only, temperature only, pressure and temperature, or a combination of pressure, temperature and super compressibility. Mass flow meters and volumetric flow calculation are based on density. This includes mass at base volume using the determined density at base conditions and mass at energy using the determined energy.
All digital, analog, and communications inputs and outputs are also approved for the SUMMIT 8800. This includes 4-20 mA analog input and output, linear optocoupler pulse input, HART input, low voltage pulse output, open collector, one 4-wire RTD input, R232/ RS485 serial port (Modbus) and Ethernet port (TCP/IP). The SUMMIT 8800 can also be used to measure and transmit measured signals to other devices requiring CT inputs.
