TrinaTracker, one of the world’s leading tracking solution providers, is completing “Kesses”, a 55 MW photovoltaic installation located in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, Kenya.
The project belongs to Alten Energias Renovables and is built by Voltalia in partnership with TrinaTracker. The installation comprises 103,936 ultra-high power modules mounted on 928 single-axis Vanguard 2P trackers, with an innovative multi-drive system and a robust design that ensures the stability of the installation during the rainy season, often accompanied by strong winds. .
It is worth highlighting the excellent adaptability of the Vanguard 2P trackers to the terrain, with multiple slopes, different ground conditions and equipment designed to operate above 2000 meters.
Since photovoltaics is a new technology in Uasin Gishu County, where the economy is entirely dependent on agriculture and animal husbandry, finding skilled labor in the area has become a challenge.
Therefore, TrinaTracker sent a team of already experienced engineers to the local market for technical training and on-site supervision, ensuring the high quality of the assembly and the long-term reliability of the project.
The six month long rainy season was also a challenge. The management of local machinery, the unloading and distribution of material on site and the mounting of tracks in the rain have become essential elements to take into account when planning additional health and safety measures and defining an action plan. Efficient and well-organized emergency. As a result, TrinaTracker ensured both the safety and well-being of staff and the timely execution of the project.

The development of Kesses has created over 70 local jobs, contributing to the growth of the local economy. The photovoltaic plant will produce a capacity of 123 MW/h of clean energy each year, which means enough electricity to cover the demand of 22,000 households. In addition, the installation will avoid the emission of 53 tonnes of CO2 per year.
Besides the Kesses PV plant, TrinaTracker has developed two other facilities in Kenya, “Radiant” and “Eldosol”, accumulating a total capacity of 155 MW, which positions TrinaTracker as one of the leading providers of tracking solutions in the region. .
